Cloth tapes enhance the look of your 2" aluminum mini blinds. Tapes in solids and decorative prints coordinate with your room colors and add a finishing touch to your window treatment.

Cordless lift is available, if you do not appreciate the look of a pool of cording collecting on the floor when your blind is raised. When combined with a wand tilt, the cordless blind provides a great measure of safety for young children.

If light leakage through fully closed slats creates glare on computer or television screens or if light disturbs sleep, additional light reduction can be accomplished with the Routless feature. This feature is known by various names including, NoHoles™ by Graber, and routless by other manufacturers. This feature reduces light leakage by eliminating the traditional rout hole through the center of the slat and replaces it with a notch on the side of each slat through which the cording controlling the tilting and lifting of the blind runs. By eliminating the rout holes, light leakage is minimized.

If you want a similar look to your windows from the exterior of your home and you are using 2" products elsewhere, using a 2" aluminum in the garage windows or other areas where you do not want or need to spend a lot of money will allow you to achieve a consistent look at a price you will not mind paying.

What can aluminum blinds do for me?

Moderate light control (minimal light gaps) by tilting the slats, while providing privacy.

Blinds can be raised to allow an open view to the outside. Two inch slat aluminum blinds are heavy and require significant effort to raise when the blind is greater than 60” wide and 60” tall.

To reduce wear and tear on cords, fully open slats before pulling the blind up. This reduces friction and requires less effort.

Slat Sizes of Aluminum Blinds

1" Aluminum (mini-blinds)

  • Comes in various gauges of aluminum slats for varying degrees of durability.  The higher the gauge, the more durable the slat.
  • The 1” slat size is the most popular of the four sizes

1 3/8" Macro Aluminum

  • For a clearer view than 1" slats afford, at a price to fit within your budget
  • Lighter than a 2" Aluminum for easier operation

2" Aluminum

  • Heaviest in weight - about twice as heavy compared to the 1-inch
  • Greater force required to raise

1/2" Micro Aluminum

  • Narrow slats provide a refined overall visual effect
  • 1/2" micro blinds are perfect for doors when combined with hold downs (to keep the blind in place when opening and closing the door)

What does Gauge mean?

According to Title 15 of the US Commerce and Trade Code (Chapter 6, Subchapter III, Sec. 206), a standard measure has been established for the manufactured thickness of processed sheet metal in the United States:

  • 6 Gauge is .006" thickness
  • 8 Gauge is .008" thickness
  • 9 Gauge is .009" thickness

What this means for you is the 9 gauge slat is thicker and more durable. When hit, the 9 gauge slat has a much higher probability of resisting denting than a 6 gauge slat.

When purchasing an aluminum blind, purchase the highest gauge to keep your mini blinds looking their best, longest.
