The shades are pretty. [...]. They seem to be of good quality.Major problems are that there is a gap on each side, allowing light to filter in, which is a major problem for our use. We live in a downtown theater district area that has very bright spot lights outside our window. Now that I've experienced this and realize there is a deduction taken, I don't see how a cellular black-out shade could EVER provide complete coverage, unless perhaps there a lot of framing around the actual window panes. You can't order the shades larger because then the rail couldn't fit inside the window?? The other issue we have is that our windows are very large - 42x101 and we have 14 foot ceilings. The window sill is 4 1/2 feet high - so we can't work the continuous cord loop without getting on a ladder and can't see anyway to lengthen the cord. Just things to think about when ordering this type of a shade. I am putting "no" for recommending to a friend, but it's specific to cellular blackout shades, not Hunter Douglas or Yourblinds.com

The blind was poorly put together. I have experience with many of the HD products. This was
not put together properly, and now it is my duty
to see that it is done right. I believe HD should
provide new, not try to "fix", and take that much
more of my time and gas. The installation is 50 miles away from my regular home. I will try to find a new product. HD used to be good and reliable. No more. Cheap parts. Cheap labor who did not care that it was not done right.

We installed these in our master bedroom. The light and heat control are wonderful and they look great. The easy pull cordless mechanism works better than I had expected. My only caution is that I gave dimensions exactly as instructed (used the smallest of 3 measurements) but there's still a bit more of a gap in the sides than I would like. Maybe next time I'll use the middle measurement and take a chance.

We bought these same blinds in two different houses. Great for blocking light although they do a better job on windows that they can inside mount with. In our new house we have to outside mount them which lets a little more light in around the edges but it is still sufficiently dark in the room. The only other reason I gave these a 4 instead of a 5 is we had trouble mounting the first few we ordered (almost a year ago) in our new house as outside mount installs. The clips would not catch completely when we tried to follow the directions and one actually fell on my husbands head weeks later. He went to the hardware store and bought L Brackets to "rig" them up in a more sturdy way which worked. We just ordered 3 more of these blinds a few weeks ago and the hardware for mounting seems to have changed slightly. This time they went up FAST and seem very secure with the hardware that came with the blinds so I guess the issue is fixed. I actually plan to call and have more of the new hardware sent to us. This all was not a problem when installing as inside mount blinds in our old house. All in all, I love these blinds. Highly recommend the cordless option!

Installation is a snap and the blinds come with just the right cord configuration so no additional leveling was needed.

These blinds work great at blocking the light and keeping the heat out in the summer. They were fairly easy to install and the prices were great. The only thing I don't like is that the Lite Rise system is not as smooth to lift as I thought it would be. Otherwise I am very happy with my purchase. [...]

This blind is wonderful! I have it in my daughters room and it keeps her room nice and dark and cool. She sleeps later in the morning and can take great afternoon naps with no glaring sun! I LOVE this blind! Easy pull tab to lift and pull down. Totally worth the cost.

Our large, south-facing bedroom window looked wonderful with our new inside-mount Hunter Douglas light-filtering cellulars, but when summer arrived we got a little too much light. We ordered this blind a few inches longer and wider than the window. When it's raised it looks like an attractive valence. When we lower it we can sleep late or watch a movie in the afternoon. As a bonus, we have found that if we lower it on very hot days it keeps the room remarkably cool. We're very happy, and plan to order them for all the east-facing windows as well.
