Bali Wood Blinds

Occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment should keep blinds clean.  More severe soiling can be removed from painted blinds by using a soft, damp cloth.  Stained blinds can be treated with a lemon oil or other wood preservative. 

Bali Faux Wood Blinds

Occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment should keep blinds clean.  More severe soiling can be removed by using a soft cloth and a mild detergent and water solution.

Bali Cellular Shades

Bali Northern Lights cellular shades are easy to keep looking fresh and new for years.  Regular dusting with a feather duster is recommended.  When necessary, fabric and be lightly vacuumed with a brush attachment.

If the cellular shades become soiled with topical dirt (i.e. dirt that is resting on the surface of the fabric), we recommend that the shade be spot cleaned using a soft cloth, a mild detergent and warm water.  Extra care should be used when clearing Cocoon and Garden Retreat fabrics as the fabrics can permanently crease.

Due to the differences in ultrasonic cleaning operators, we cannot recommend this method of cleaning.
Do not use strong detergents or spot removers.  Dry cleaning is NOT recommended.

Bali Roman Shades

Remove the shade from its window, open the shade and lay it out on a clean, flat surface, such as a table or countertop. If the shade is dusty, simply vacuum over it using an upholstery attachment. 

For cleaning fingerprints or soiled spots on shades, we recommend using an aerosol spray foam upholstery or fabric cleaner, such as WooliteÆ or ScotchGardÆ upholstery cleaners. 

Spray the foam cleaner over the entire area to be cleaned. Immediately scrub the area with a clean damp sponge (back and forth gently) until the stains are removed. If necessary, the entire shade may be cleaned in this fashion. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle the fabric. 

Remove the excess water from the fabric by patting with a clean, dry towel. Hang the shade up when completely dry.

Bali Vinyl Blinds

Bali Pleated Shades

The following cleaning instructions have been developed for the fabric used in pleated shades.

Remove the pleated shade from its window, open the shade and lay it out on a clean, flat surface, such as a table or countertop.

If the shade is dusty, simply vacuum over it using an upholstery attachment.

For cleaning fingerprints or soiled spots on pleated shades, we recommend using an aerosol spray foam upholstery or fabric cleaner, such as Woolite" or ScotchGard" upholstery cleaners.

Spray the foam cleaner over the entire areas to be cleaned. Immediately scrub the area with a clean damp sponge (back and forth gently in the direction parallel to the pleats in the fabric) until the stains are removed. If necessary, the entire shade may be cleaned in this fashion. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle the fabric.

Remove the excess water from the fabric by patting with a clean, dry towel. Hang the shade up when completely dry.

Frequent cleaning may tend to remove the fullness and body of the pleated fabric. Due to the differences in ultrasonic cleaning operators, we cannot recommend this method of cleaning.

Bali Aluminum Blinds

Occasional light vacuuming with a brush attachment should keep blinds clean.  More severe soiling can be removed by using a soft cloth and a mild detergent/water solution.

Graber Vertical Blinds

Aluminum Louvers: Can be cleaned with damp cloth and a mild detergent. 

Vinyl Louvers: Can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Also, if a thin film of mild detergent is left on louvers, it will eliminate static electricity. 

Fabric Louvers: Require only periodic vacuuming. For soiled fabrics, we recommend a gradual progression through the following:

1. Let the soil dry and try to gently pick it off the fabric.
2. Gently scrub with warm water.
3. Gently scrub with warm water and a mild detergent such as dishwashing liquid.

Scotchgard® Treated Fabrics: Brighton, Lucia, Paradise, Taylor - All are treated with Scotchgard fabric protector and require only periodic vacuuming. 

IMPORTANT: On all traversing vertical blinds without the E-Z Open feature, louvers MUST BE IN FULL OPEN POSITION before traversing. On all corded blinds, ALWAYS USE BOTH HANDS WHEN PULLING CHAIN OR CORD, ONE HAND ON EACH STRAND. On all One Touch Control blinds, ALWAYS TRAVERSE BLIND OPEN BY PUSHING WITH THE WAND, ALWAYS CLOSE THE BLIND BY PULLING THE WAND.

Graber Wood Blinds

Recommended Cleaning Methods 

Dusting: Regular dusting maintains a like-new appearance of most blinds, shades and sheers. 

Vacuuming: For deeper cleaning, vacuum gently with brush attachment of any vacuum cleaner. 

Compressed Air or Hair Dryer (non-heat setting): Blow dust off selected window coverings. 

Spot-Cleaning: Spot-clean shades and blinds with soft cloth or sponge moistened with lukewarm water. Add mild detergent if needed. Blot gently to avoid creasing. Honeycomb shades should be dried in fully lowered position. 

Stain-finished wooden blinds: Water may damage surface, so use lemon oil or wood preservative to clean. Aluminum horizontal blinds. Use over-the-counter blind cleaner with a soft cloth. 

Vinyl and aluminum vertical blinds: Reduce build-up of static electricity by applying a very thin film of detergent on all slats and vanes.

Ultrasonic cleaning: Professional ultrasonic cleaning is recommended for several products. Do not use this method for: Country Woods blinds, Easy Glide, EasyRise, UltraGlide, Luminette Privacy Sheers, Silhouette Bon Soir or metallized-backed shades.

Bathtub cleaning 

1. Immerse entire shade assembly in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Wash for 5 minutes by gently moving liquid around with your fingers. 
   
2. Rinse with clear water. 
   
3. Close shade before removing from rinse water. 
   
4. Hold rails and tilt the shade to allow excess water to drain off. 
   
5. Re-install damp shade into window opening. 
   
6. Lower shade all the way to allow it to dry completely.

Certain honeycomb fabrics should not be immersed in water.

Comfortex Woodwinds Faux Wood Blinds

While beautiful and pleasing to the eye, all Comfortex Products are designed to be durable, easily cared for and easily cleaned. Our Woodwinds Blinds are inherently anti-static and repel dust but occasional feather dusting or vacuuming made be necessary to keep the slats clean and bright.

The durable polymer coating on Woodwinds slats resists chipping, cracking or warping. Spills or stains can be cleaned with soap and water. For this, remove the blind from the window and submerge, soak and lightly rub. Slats are fully washable and will not be harmed if exposed to water or humid conditions.

Comfortex Shangri-La Sheer Window Shadings

The soft delicate feel of Shangri-La Window Shadings belies the durability of the material. Shangri-La is made from sturdy, knitted polyester fabric and may be feather dusted or vacuumed at a low suction setting. Spots or stains can be lightly rubbed clean with a damp sponge and mild soap. To avoid discoloration of the material, we recommend against the use of chemical cleaners. Shangri-La may be cleaned ultrasonically.

Comfortex Stardust Sheer Verticals

Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals are easy to clean and maintain. Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals require only periodic feather dusting to keep them looking new. Spills and stains can be lightly blotted with a cloth or damp sponge. More difficult stains may require gentle washing in window with mild soap. For this, remove the vanes from the window and submerge, soak and rub lightly. Lay flat to dry or place back in the window. Stardust Soft Sheer Verticals may be ultrasonically cleaned.

Comfortex Cellular Shades

Also, the use of a feather duster or dust buster at a low setting will help keep your shades clean and fresh. Serenade shades may also be cleaned ultrasonically.

Comfortex Sonata Sunscreens

Sonata Sunscreens are easy to maintain and only require occasional vacuuming with a soft brush attachment or washing with mild soap. Soak a sponge or damp cloth with the soapy solution and gently wipe or blot the stain from the fabric. Allow the shade to air dry completely before raising.
