Make a Statement with Your Bedding
No doubt you know the feel
you seek to create for your bedroom. Whether relaxing
or sensual, this is one room that must create a warm and
inviting environment.
For most, your bed is the
largest element in your bedroom. Your bedding can be
both functional and artful in bringing together multiple
elements of your bedroom's decor as it becomes the focal
point of your experience. |

The Foundation
Three general types of bed covers create the base upon which
to make your bed a sanctuary:
Comforter - A down or polyester filled covering that extends
across the top of the bed to approximately 18" above the
floor. A dust ruffles is used to compliment the
colors.
Bedspread - A machine-quilted covering that extends across
the top of the bed to the floor. There is sufficient
material to cover pillows creating a finished look.
Duvet - A quilt filled with down or other material, inside a
cover that is easily removed for laundering.
Select the foundation
bedding that will best fit your lifestyle. |
Bedding Sets
Ever wish you could make your room look just like the
picture? You can when you purchase the bedding set.
Bedding sets are available in a wide variety of designs
today from nautica bedding, daybed bedding, laura ashley
bedding, camouflage and tropical themes, western, designer,
toile, contemporary, liz clairbourne, dinasaurs, disney,
barbie, nascar, hawaiian themes, nautical bedding, luxury
bedding, discount bedding, southwest
themes, girl bedding, boy bedding, teen bedding, child
bedding, the list goes on and on. |
Most bedding sets include a comforter, dust ruffle and
pillow shams.
Pillow shams are available in a wide variety of styles.
Pictured at right in red and also in green is the Euro
style, also known as flanged. Some sets include
quilted shams or shams with ruffles to create a different
look.
Don't forget the sheets! Sheet sets add to the overall
look and warmth of your bedding. Sheet sets include a
flat sheet, a fitted sheet and pillowcases. |

Finishing Touches
Don't stop at just the bedding and sheet set. Now that
you have effectively created a focal point to your room with
your bedding, leverage the theme. Extending the theme
to your windows with drapery panels and a coordinating
valance will effectively work the other elements of your
room together to create the inviting environment you seek.
You do not want your bed to be well dressed, just to have
your windows not work with the theme. All the elements
of your room need to work together.

Master Bath
Carry the theme you began in your bedroom with your luxury bedding into the Master
Bath. Since these rooms sit in such close proximity,
and typically the only entrance to the Master Bath is
through the Master Bedroom, these rooms need to compliment
each other for an aesthetically pleasing look. Think
of the Master Bath as an extension of your bedroom.
The easiest way to accomplish this is by bringing the
discount bedding theme into the Bath with a coordinating shower
curtain.
Don't have a shower
that requires a curtain? Dress up the window with the
same side panels and valance as in the bedroom.
